Brookside Page updated every weekend

Week Commencing March 18th 2001

Jackie and DianeAfter listening to Jackie, who was obviously distressed about Jimmy divorcing her, Diane was concerned about her neighbour and wanted to help. Diane asked Marty to take Jimmy to the pub to try and find out why Jimmy was intent on Divorcing Jackie. She was shocked when Marty reported back that Jimmy told him that Jackie was having an affair with a woman. At first Diane wasn't sure who to believe but later sided with Jackie after she called round and explained that Jimmy's grip on reality was affected by his medication. Later Diane was furious to discover that Jackie had lied about having an affair and called on Jackie to confront her. After a heated argument they ended up fighting outside and had to be seperated by Ron Dixon.

Jackie made one last attempt to convince Jimmy by talking to him through the closed extension door, but he had headphones on and couldn't hear what she was saying. In the end believing that Jimmy was ignoring her Jackie gave up in despair and agreed to a divorce.

Leanne and ChristyMeanwhile Leanne finally dumped Christy but not before letting him know how she resented being used. Leanne was livid when she spotted him looking at another girl, so when Christy later called round at her flat expecting a night of passion she punched him and threw him out. The next day Leanne was feeling very low, but her depression was lifted when Darren seemed very understanding and was particularly nice to her.

Rachel's birthdayAlso on Brookside this week Rachel had an unexpected birthday surprise when Mike returned home determined to look after his family. However it soon became clear to Mike that he was going to be more of a burden than a help as he could do very little for himself. Ron was shocked when he found out about Bev's secret wedding, while Bev herself was wondering whether she did the right thing after all by marrying Fred. Yvonne moved in with Mick after her flat was trashed by neighbours.
