Week Commencing December 17th 2000

Emily and CarlTim went out to a night-club with his mates Jerome, Leo, Steven, Robbie, Clint, Mike and Rachel to cheer himself up the night before his trial. While at the club he chatted up a blonde girl, but when Tim later saw Emily flirting with photographer Carl he became very jealous. Later in a fit of anger Tim fought with Carl, smashed beer bottles and then egged on by Robbie stole Carl's car. Taking Robbie and Clint and Mike as passengers he drove off at high speed.

Despite Mike shouting at him to slow down, Tim continued to drive dangerously at high speed until he crashed into another car. Mike was left badly injured while the others virtually unhurt ran off. Rachel was unaware of the accident until the police broke the news that Mike had been hurt. After rushing to the hospital Rachel was told he may be crippled for the rest of his life.

Max contemplates suicideMeanwhile Jerome felt guilty after a night of passion with Nisha, and Leo was delighted to meet up with Cheryl. Lindsey was furious with Jackie after listening to Shelley's explanation of their affair, but when she returned home she was forced to pretend everything was normal as Jimmy was there waiting to greet her. Max had reached the depths of despair and contemplated suicide. Jacqui saw the lights on at No 7 and worried about Max called round to see him. Unable to get a reply Jacqui decided to break in, just in time to stop Max taking an overdose.

Bev hosts a Brazillian nightAlso in Brookside this week Leo was embarrassed when Mick caught him in a compromising situation with Cheryl. Bev did her best to help Lance make Fred feel at home by holding a Brazilian party, but the night didn't go quite according to plan. Lisa was angry about the delay over Susannah's funeral, and Max finally lost his grip on reality when he decided the back garden would be an ideal spot to bury his ex-wife. Carl told Emily he wouldn't press charges against Tim if she agreed to pose for him.
