Week Commencing July 16th 2000
Ron
and Bev swapped insults after Bev teased Ron about his failed DIY efforts
at Anthea's house. Ron retaliated by calling her an old slapper who could
never have a decent relationship. At first Bev was hurt by Ron's remarks
but later cheered up when she found an engagement ring in a drawer. The
ring actually belonged to Callum and had been brought back by Dave after
he killed him but Bev believed Dave had bought it for her and was intending
to propose. Dave was taken completely by surprise at Bev's assumption
but decided to go along with the engagement until he could find a way
out of it. He asked Bev to keep quite about their engagement for a while
but later while at the Murray's house warming she boasted to Ron about
it. Unfortunately for Dave Diane overheard the conversation and announced
their engagement to all those at the barbecue.
Katie
had some good and some bad news this week, first she was delighted when
Clint arrived unexpectedly, but later when Nisha saw them together she
told Katie that she was once engaged to Clint. Meanwhile Mike and Rachel
had a disagreement about Sinbad's involvement with Beth when Mike decided
to ban him from her christening.
Also
this week Bev was about to sack Jimmy after he finally turned up for work
but took pity on him when she realised how upset he was. Sinbad felt no
longer welcome on the close after a brick comes through the window. Lindsey's
relationship with Shelley became more intimate after she apologised for
not believing her story about Callum while Max continued his efforts to
start a relationship with Katrina. Jackie was amazed when Jimmy gave their
house a thorough clean
