Tuesday September 30th 2003

Sean is busy working up a ladder on the outside of the bungalow cleaning out the guttering. Inside Katie and Nic are discussing their wedding plans while Sammy is complaining to Nikki about her hangover. Katie jokes that they could end up having a double wedding with Ron and Bev, but hopes for something much better. Nic borrows Nikki's computer to search the Internet for a more exotic location for their wedding.

When Nikki takes Sean a cup of tea she talks about how worried she is about getting a good job, as she doesn't see much of a future working at Bar Brookie. Ruth arrives, and obviously annoyed to see Sean helping out at the bungalow, suggest he should help her out more. Sean tells Ruth that if she wants help, then she will have to pay someone.

A phone call from Jessie, brings both good and bad news for Nikki, Jessie and Ray have found a nice villa on the Spanish coast, but they will need to sell the bungalow to pay for it. Katie and Nic are not too concerned, as their house is almost finished, but Sammy is furious about having to move out, and tells Nikki she should have more notice. As Nikki will also need to find somewhere else to live, Sammy suggests they could share a place together, but Nikki says she will have to think about it. Sean believes he has the ideal solution to Nikki's problem, and tells her she can move in with him, but Nikki says she isn't ready to make such a commitment. Sean is not easily put off though, and tells Nikki there is no rush, and she should think about it before making up her mind.

Later when Sean calls on Ruth to pick up Luke, he mentions that Nikki will be moving in with him. Ruth is a little shocked, and although she tells Sean she is happy for him, Ruth tries to make him jealous by saying she has a date that evening.
Nic and Katie meanwhile are writing out their wedding guest list, but this only makes Katie depressed when she realises that while Nic has about fifty guests on his side she has very few friends to invite. Katie would rather keep the guest list small and have a fairytale wedding instead. Nicky and Sean both recommend Disney Land in Florida as the ideal location for such a wedding, and after checking out the details on the Internet, both Katie and Nic decide this is where they will get married.

When Ruth next sees Nikki on the close, she confronts her about moving in with Sean and tells Nikki that Luke will need looking after whenever he goes to stay with them. Nikki retorts that she will be quite capable of making sure Luke receives all the care he needs. Inside the bungalow, Sean overhears their conversation and assumes Nikki will be moving in with him after all. However when he tries to give Nikki a spare key to his house, she is annoyed and tells him he has jumped to the wrong conclusion. Sean is devastated when instead of agreeing to move in with him, Nikki tells him that she wants to end their relationship.

The next morning when Sammy hears about Nikki splitting up with Sean, she tells her that she shouldn't be too hasty as they are good together. Sean calls on Nikki a little later, but despite his declaration of love she remains unconvinced that they should give their relationship another try. Sean refuses to give up, and says he will give her another couple of days to think about it.
The next time he sees Nikki, is when he drops Luke back at the Gordon's house, but she is just going into Jimmy's house, so Sean decides to wait outside in his van. When she leaves Jimmy's Sean tries again to talk to Nikki and persuade her that she should stay with him, but Nikki insists they are finished.

However just as he is about to leave, Sean meets Nic who suggests he might win Nikki round by taking her away for a few days. Sean thinks that is a great idea and books a weekend in Paris, but when Nikki later catches him sorting through her clothes she thinks he is stalking her. Sean tries to explain that he was only packing her clothes so he could surprise her with the weekend away, but Nikki runs to Jimmy instead. Sean has no choice but to go, when Jimmy tells him to leave Nikki alone.

Nikki is afraid to go back to the bungalow, so Jimmy says she can stay a while with him. That evening after having a few drinks, Sean calls to see Nikki at the bungalow, but finds Sammy there alone instead. After she invites him in to wait for her to return, Sean relates to Sammy about how much he misses Nikki and wants her back. Over at Jimmy's house Nikki confides that she is no longer happy with Sean, and after a long chat with Jimmy falls asleep on the sofa. Meanwhile Sean and Sammy have shared a bottle of wine, and end up sleeping together.
The next day Sean regrets his actions, but before he has a chance to leave Nikki, Katie and Nic return early. They are all disgusted by his behaviour, but when he accuses Nikki of spending the night with Jimmy, she throws him out.

Sammy tries to persuade Sean to stay and sober up before going to work in his van, but he refuses to listen and drives off in a temper. Although he arrives at his destination ok, Sean ends up in hospital after falling off a roof while trying to install a satellite dish. Ruth receives a phone call from the hospital to inform her about Sean's accident, and when she arrives Ruth discovers he has broken his arm and wants her to help him. At first Ruth is sympathetic until he tells her how he got drunk after splitting up with Nikki, and spent the night with Sammy. Ruth is secretly pleased that he has finished with Nikki, but annoyed for putting his life at risk. At firsts she tells him he will have to find someone else to look after him, but soon relents and agrees to let him stay with her.

Ruth enjoys looking after Sean, but although grateful for her help and letting him stay at the house, Sean doesn't seem interested in getting back with Ruth, which is something she really would like to happen. In an attempt to make him take more notice, Ruth keeps up the pretence of having a boyfriend. She isn't too pleased though when Sean offers to look after Luke, so she can have a night out with him.

When Ruth returns Sean questions her about Pete, her boyfriend, as he wants to make sure he wont abuse Luke. They have a heart to heart and Sean tells her that he never loved Nikki as much as her, while Ruth responds by saying she realises she made a mistake by leaving him for Dan. As she continues to apologise for splitting up, they end up in a passionate embrace. The next morning Ruth is very happy thinking they are now back together, but is disappointed by Sean's reaction, who says they made a mistake by sleeping together.

Later that evening when Ruth returns from work, Sean asks more questions about Pete, and seems pleased when she says he doesn't really exist. He explains the reason he is reluctant to give their relationship another try, is that he doesn't want to risk being be hurt again. Ruth is adamant that she will never hurt him again, and that all she wants is for them to be a proper family. Sean says he feels the same way and decides to give Ruth another chance.

Also on Brookside this week, Katie not only agrees to let Sammy come to her wedding, but also says she can stay with her and Nic until she finds somewhere to live.

After Nikki explains that Margi is coming from Brussels for the trial, but has nowhere to stay, Jimmy offers her a room at his house.
