It's early morning at the Parrs and after rejecting Gary in the bedroom,
Gabby tries to focus his interest on her pregnancy and the fact she hasn't
felt her baby move yet. Gary reassures her that it's nothing to worry about
and sets off to the health club. As he leaves Gabby asks
him
to pick up some baby things from the shops, but he is hardly enthusiastic
about the idea so Gabby decides to go to the shops herself.
Outside on the Parade Katie is discussing her pregnancy with Nikki and Jacqui
and explaining how she will be glad when it's all over. At the health club
Gary meets Max and teases him about losing some weight, and when Jacqui
arrives he jokes with her about her marriage, while complaining about his
own.
In the surgery Gabby is chatting to Katie, who manages to convince her that, it's perfectly normal not to feel any movement from the baby at her stage in the pregnancy.
Max is pleased that they have found a buyer for their house, and will soon be able to move, but Jacqui isn't quite so enthusiastic, particularly when Max suggests they could have more children once they have settled into their new home.
Later when Gary returns home with a new teddy for the baby, Gabby isn't too pleased as it's almost identical to the one she has just bought. Gary is keen that they should put the past behind them and look forward to being a proper family, but Gaby thinks he is more interested in the baby than her. Gaby is distracted by a sudden movement in her womb, it's the baby moving and both Gabby and Gary are delighted.
At he heath club Jacqui is confiding in Katie about how bored she has become lately, and that how life seems to be so uneventful. She surprises Katie with talk about going bunjee jumping and shocks her when she says she wants to do something outrageous like getting drunk and seducing both the Gordon brothers.
That
night it seems that Gabby is finally going to allow Gary to get close, but
just as they start getting passionate, Gabby makes a remark about him and
Nisha. Gary is furious and upset that she wont let him forget about his
affair with Nisha, but despite Gabby apologising and pleading with him to
come back to bed, Gary storms off intending to go for a drive.
Outside on the Parade Jacqui spots Gary, and seeing how distressed he is,
takes his car keys and suggests they go into the health club so they can
talk about his troubles. Jacqui listens sympathetically to Gary, and as
he talks of his concerns about Gaby, she kisses him first on the cheek and
then passionately on the lips.
Meanwhile upstairs Gaby decides to go looking for her missing husband,
and noticing that his car is still parked outside, tries the club door but
finds it locked. Inside the the noise at the door interrupts Jacqui and
Gary before they go too far, and as Gary hurriedly buttons his shirt and
Jacqui her blouse they both realise they almost made a huge mistake.
Arriving back at the flat Gary tells Gabby he had been out for a drive in
his car, not realising she had seen it parked outside.
The next morning at the health club Jacqui is reminded of her indiscretion
with Gary when she sees his car keys on the desk, so she picks them up intending
to return them later. Meanwhile Gaby's imagination is running riot as to
Gary's whereabouts the night before and her suspicions are further aroused
when he cant find his car keys.
At the surgery Sammy and Katie are talking about their living arrangements,
and are worried about a rent increase. When Katie suggests moving in with
Nikki Sammy thinks it's a great idea and goes off to find her. Jacqui arrives
and tries to return Gary's keys by giving them to Katie, but she says it
would be better for her to take the keys to his flat.
The Gordon brothers, Ali and Stuart are talking about girls and Ali is surprised to discover Stuart has a girlfriend. Debbie returns from the Undertakers with Alan's ashes and they discuss the best place to scatter them. Stuart suggest they take them to a place they once visited as a family, which they all agree would be a good idea.
As Jacqui is about to put Gary's keys through the letterbox, Gaby opens the door and questions Jacqui about them. Jacqui explains that Gary had left them at the health club, something he had done before, but Gabby obviously doesn't believe her and insinuates there is something going on between them. Jacqui protests her innocence and leaves.
When Garry comes home, Gabby confronts him about her suspicions, and although he admits that he confided in Jacqui, Gary denies they were having an affair. Enraged by his deception, Gabby decides to call on Jacqui at the healthclub where she accuses her of sleeping with her husband. Jacqui hotly denies having an affair with Garry so Gabby decides to tell Max. about his wife and her husband. Her mood doesn't improve when Max refuses to believe her allegations, so she leaves in a fury and returns to the flat where she rips one of the teddy's apart in a fit of temper.
Later Max tries to keep news of Gabby's visit to himself, but Jacqui notices something is wrong and eventually he admits that Gabby had called round and told him about her suspicions. Jacqui manages to reassure Max that Gabby was lying, before going round to see Gaby herself. A furious row ensues between them as they swap insults. At the top of the stairs Gabby takes a swipe at Jacqui, but loses her balance and falls. Meanwhile Max has arrived and is horrified to see Gabby fall down the stairs, a disturbing reminder of when Susannah died.
Gabby remains conscious, but is in pain and worried about her baby,
so while Max stays with her, Jacqui rushes off to the surgery to find Gary.
Gary isn't there though so Katie rings him and leaves a message.
While
they are waiting for help to arrive, Gabby assures Max she was telling the
truth about Jacqui and Gary affair, and this time Max begins to have doubts
about Jacqui.
When they return home Max voices his doubts to Jacqui, and says she doesn't
seem committed to their marriage, and although she tries to allay his fears,
Max isn't really convinced. Later Jacqui does manage to convince Max of
her determination to make their marriage work, by signing the contract for
their new house.
Gabby wasn't badly hurt and when Gary brings Gabby home from hospital,
he tries to make a fuss of her but she tells him their marriage is over,
and he wont convince her otherwise. Gary is devastated and pleads with her
to give him a chance to make amends, and tells her that he wants her to
stay. Gabby refuses to listen and tells him that she will leave and stay
with her mother until the baby is born.
