Week Commencing October 6th 2002

When Marty voiced his concern about further trouble from the Clough brothers, Steve tried to reassure him that they wouldn't be bothering him anymore, but this only made Marty suspicious that Steve may have taken the law into his own hands. Meanwhile Brigid had been plotting to send Diane and Marty away on a short holiday so they could try and patch up their shaky marriage. With Steve’s help she managed to persuade Diane it would do them good to spend some time alone, but Diane still had to convince Marty.
Adele needed no convincing, she was delighted at the prospect of her parents going away, as it gave her the opportunity of holding a party.

Debbie received a worrying phone call from Kirsty saying she was cutting her round the world trip short and returning on the next available flight. She arrived home the next day but was very evasive when questioned about her reasons for returning after only a few weeks away. She said she hadn’t been too well and when she rushed to the bathroom the next morning, Debbie wrongly deducted there could only be one cause for her apparent illness.

Bev was keen to spend more time with Josh, which made Jacqui come to the decision that the only solution was for her to take over as bar manager. Max wasn’t too happy though as this meant he would see even less of Jacqui.
Also on Brookside this week when a house-clearing job for Tim went wrong, he dreaded telling Emily the bad news. Debbie couldn't help but interfere when she learnt that Ruth was intent on preventing Sean seeing his son. Jessie was concerned as to why Nikki wanted to postpone her wedding and Nisha made a confession to Katie.
