Marty
and Diane planned a family celebration to mark Steve's 21st Birthday
but were disappointed when he chose Jeff's company instead. Tim and
Emily also had a reason to celebrate when Tim was offered a job. Meanwhile
the hostile atmosphere at No 10 finally became too much for Jackie
and so she decided to move out, but not before she made her peace
with Lindsey. Max was still determined to replace Susannah's headstone
with one that he thought had a more fitting inscription, but Jacqui
managed to convince him it wasn't such a good idea
Nikki
had an unexpected proposal for Jerome this week after deciding he
would have to prove he was still committed to her. Jerome though had
been thinking about finishing with Nikki so he could pursue his relationship
with Nisha, so was taken completely by surprise when Nikki proposed.
Nikki also gave Jerome an ultimatum by telling him that he either
agreed to get married or their relationship was over. Jerome realised
that if he didn't want to lose Nikki completely he had no choice.
Katrina also had marriage in mind when she suggested Steve could swap
his birthday present for an engagement ring.
Also
on Brookside this week Katie was furious when she read an article
about Ron Dixon in a local paper which depicted him as a hero. Incensed
by his apparent popularity Katie visited Ron in prison, where he appeared
to regret what happened. Ron soon made matters worse though when he
remarked that she wasn't to blame for not knowing what Clint was really
like. Later after listening to Jacqui and Mike talk about Katie's
visit to see Ron, Rachel decided to offer Katie her support despite
Mike asking her to keep away. Jeff was delighted at the prospect of
having Steve as a son in law, but he had other ideas
