Week Commencing November 14th 1982
time at his house listening to music after raiding Sheila's fridge for food.
Paul meanwhile busy putting up a nameplate outside his house, notices the
loud music coming from the Grant's house.
Later
as Sheila prepares the family meal, Karen tries unsuccessfully to persuade
her mum to let her go on holiday with her friends. When Barry arrives home
from work, he is surprised to find that there is no cheese left in the
fridge or bread for his sandwich. Sheila is shocked to see Barry has injured
his arm, and insists on putting a clean dressing on the wound. Barry
explains there was an accident at work, and that one of his mates was very
badly injured. Bobby has some good news about his work, the strike has been
postponed for a while.
Over at number nine Roger is still trying to assemble the furniture without much success. It's only when Paul Collins brings round a package that was left with him two weeks earlier, that Roger realises it contains the missing instructions and fittings for the furniture.
Bobby is unimpressed when two young lads call for Karen, and Sheila is concerned when she see's them waiting outside on their motorcycles.
The
next morning at the Grant's house neither Karen or Barry are Keen to get up
and face the day ahead.
Soon after Heather and Roger set off to work in Heather's car. Seeing Sheila walking out the close Heather offers her a lift despite Roger protesting about him missing his train
As Damon set's off for school a truck pulls up outside No 10 loaded with more cookers. Damon asks the driver what they are doing, but is told to keep his nose out before being chased out the close.
On arriving at the railway station Roger is annoyed at being late and has to run to catch his train, but arrives just as the train pulls out of the station.
At the factory Bobby discusses the productivity scheme with Matty and Jonna. Matty believes it just won't work. Later that day they receive notice that unless they agree to the scheme the factory will close after Christmas.
Meanwhile Karen, suffering from period pains, is finding it difficult to concentrate at school, which doesn't go unnoticed by her teacher, who suggests she should get more sleep at nights.
Barry
stops by his mate Terry's place of work to give him a list of building
materials he need for a job he is doing. Barry then gives Karen a lift to
Rooney's for a bite to eat, in an effort to cheer her up
Meanwhile as Roger is dropped off at home, Heather waits outside the railway station for him, and is not happy when she realises he is not on the train.
As Barry and Karen leave Rooney's they are confronted by Duane who thinks she has been two timing him with Barry, until Karen informs him that Barry is in fact her brother.
Barry manages to persuade Karen to see the doctor about going on the pill, although she is very worried about Sheila finding out.
