All the people in the cult have had tragedies in their lives at some time or other, which is why they joined the group in the hope that Simon could help. Simon wanted Terry to buy the house so that they could have a permanent place of worship, but before this can happen Barry Grant buys the house. As Terry gets deeper and deeper into the cult his best mate Barry tries to get him to see sense. Meanwhile it’s not long before Katie sees what Simon is really like when he tells her to sleep with Terry.
After the blast Terry still stands by Simon, staying by his bedside as the cult leader lies critically injured from the explosion. Once Simon recovers, with nowhere to go he moves into the woods behind Brookside Close using a few cardboard boxes for his home. It’s not long before Mick’s son Leo discovers his whereabouts and starts sneaking off into the woods with scraps from the Pizza Parlour to feed Simon.
