Max and Susannah Farnham
Now that Patricia was out of the way Susannah wasted no time
in trying to get back with Max. A short while after Patricia had departed
Susannah turned up on Max’s doorstep and asked if she could stay for a few
days, as she no where else to go after being given notice to quit the flat
she had been sharing with Dil.
Max was not too keen on Susannah staying but as it was only going to be for a short while he agreed. Once she had made herself at home though it was obvious that Susannah was in no hurry to leave. It was not long before Max realised he could be stuck with Susannah so suggested that she could move into a flat on Brookside Parade, but Susannah had decided to stay put and after the resulting argument it was Max who ended up moving to the flat.
This was not what Susannah had really wanted, so she soon made up with Max by promising to help him sort the VAT returns for the restaurant.
Susannah was not the only woman with an interest
in Max, Sammy Rogers had set her sights on him and determined to get what
she wanted Sammy
managed to seduce Max one evening at La Luz. The next day
though, Max regretted what had happened and tried to tell Sammy he wasn't
interested in a permanent relationship. Sammy annoyed at his rejection, decided
on revenge, by first telling Susannah that Max had seduced her, and then announcing
in front of Max’s neighbours that he had made her pregnant.
Although Susannah didn’t believe these allegations, she was more upset when Max decided to visit Patricia in France. Max returned to find that Susannah had given away all his clothes to a charity auction. Later Max and Susannah try to make a fresh start by going on a second honeymoon in a cottage but when they arrived Max made a shocking discovery. The cottage was already occupied by two of his neighbours, brother and sister Nat and Georgia Simpson, who Max found in bed together. After this encounter the Farnham's decided to return home leaving Nat and Georgia to sort out their own problems.
Max suspected for some time that that Susannah seemed to have a secret bank account, these suspicions were later confirmed when she announced that she had bought a large share of the restaurant, Susannah now owned a larger share than Max.
Everything seemed to be going well for the Farnham’s and Susannah was quite happy with their two children Mathew and Emily and didn’t envisage wanting any more. With this in mind she managed to persuade Max to have a vasectomy operation. Although Max agreed he backed out at the last minute without telling Susannah.
The Farnham's lives were changed forever when one day when
returning from an outing with the kids, Susannah is distracted from her driving
and crashes into another car which resulted in both Mathew and Emily both
being killed. As she had a glass of wine before the accident Susannah blamed
herself for the accident and even tried to commit suicide before Max managed
to convince her that he did not blame her for the deaths of their children.
To help get over their loss, Max and Susannah went away on holiday together in the country, and Max took the opportunity to tell Susannah he didn’t have the vasectomy after all. Susannah was delighted at the news and together they decided to try for a new baby.
This was not as straight forward as they thought, after a couple of months Susannah discovered that she would be very unlikely to conceive due to an infection cased by the car accident.
As Susannah was desperate to have another baby they tried at first to adopt, but after being refused, decided instead to find a surrogate mother to have a baby for them. They thought the ideal person to be a surrogate mother would be Susannah’s sister Lisa, but when she refused they asked Jacqui Dixon, who desperate for money at the time agreed. See Surrogacy Story.........
The next few months proved to be very eventful,
shortly after Jacqui conceived with Max’s baby, against all odds Susannah
also became pregnant, so now they had two babies to look forward to. Susannah’s
happiness was short lived, soon after Jacqui gave birth to baby Harry Susannah
discovered
Max was having an
affair, one that had been going on for years. After several arguments Susannah
threw Max out leaving her to cope with baby Harry and her own pregnancy on
her own.
