The Simpson's family, Ollie , his wife Bel and two of their children Nat and Danny moved into No 9 Brookside Close in May 1996. Bel had recently ended an affair with a man at the place she worked so she and Ollie had decided to move to a different area to try and make a fresh start.
Nat and his fiancée Jules were making plans for their wedding day and although Jules was very keen to finalise the arrangements, Nat was less enthusiastic. It later became apparent that although Nat had told Jules he wanted to get married, his sister Georgia was the real love of his life, a situation that had been kept secret from the rest of the family. The arrangements for the wedding continued but during the wedding rehearsal Nat panicked and ran from the church, deciding instead to join Georgia for a few days at a cottage in the country unaware that their parents had agreed to let Max and Susannah Farnham stay at the same cottage. Max was more than a little surprised when he went to unpack and found Nat and Georgia in bed together. Nat and Georgia managed to persuade the Farnham’s to keep this news to themselves after promising to tell Ollie and Bel about their relationship.
A few weeks later Danny returned from school early one day and discovered Nat and Georgia in bed together, in a state of shock he ran from the house into the road and was knocked down by a car. As Danny lay unconscious in hospital Georgia could keep her secret no longer and told Ollie and Bel about her relationship with Nat, Ollie devastated at the revelation reacted by locking Nat and Georgia in their own rooms in an effort to keep them apart.
Bel who had not worked since moving to Brookside, found employment at Ron Dixons Trading Post working alongside Bev but it was not long before there was a conflict of idea’s on the way the shop should be run. Nat and Georgia meanwhile
