The Simpsons

The Simpson's family, Ollie , his wife Bel and two of their children Nat and Danny moved into No 9 Brookside Close in May 1996. Bel had recently ended an affair with a man at the place she worked so she and Ollie had decided to move to a different area to try and make a fresh start.

Nat and GeorgiaGeorgia their recently married daughter moved in with them a short while later after discovering she didn't get along too well with her new husband Martin. Nat was also non too pleased at the arrival of his sister a fact which puzzled Ollie and Bel and was the cause of tension in the Simpson household. Meanwhile Danny was having problems of his own, when he became a victim of a school bully Tinhead O’Leary who was making his life a misery at Brookside Comprehensive.

Nat and his fiancée Jules were making plans for their wedding day and although Jules was very keen to finalise the arrangements, Nat was less enthusiastic. It later became apparent that although Nat had told Jules he wanted to get married, his sister Georgia was the real love of his life, a situation that had been kept secret from the rest of the family.

The arrangements for the wedding continued but during the wedding rehearsal Nat panicked and ran from the church, deciding instead to join Georgia for a few days at a cottage in the country unaware that their parents had agreed to let Max and Susannah Farnham stay at the same cottage. Max was more than a little surprised when he went to unpack and found Nat and Georgia in bed together. Nat and Georgia managed to persuade the Farnham’s to keep this news to themselves after promising to tell Ollie and Bel about their relationship.

Nat and JulesNat returned home and decided to go ahead and marry Jules but on their wedding night he left Jules on her own, preferring Georgia’s company instead. The next day Nat told both his and Jules parents that the wedding was a mistake and that he shouldn't have agreed to marry Jules as he was in fact gay, he thought this preferable to telling them the real reason.

A few weeks later Danny returned from school early one day and discovered Nat and Georgia in bed together, in a state of shock he ran from the house into the road and was knocked down by a car. As Danny lay unconscious in hospital Georgia could keep her secret no longer and told Ollie and Bel about her relationship with Nat, Ollie devastated at the revelation reacted by locking Nat and Georgia in their own rooms in an effort to keep them apart.

JC BradleyWhen Danny returned from hospital he decided to tell Jules the truth about Nat, but had cause to regret his decision when she later took an overdose and ended up in hospital. Jules father J.C. Bradley then also found out about Nat and Georgia and reported them to the police.

Bel who had not worked since moving to Brookside, found employment at Ron Dixons Trading Post working alongside Bev but it was not long before there was a conflict of idea’s on the way the shop should be run.

Nat and Georgia meanwhile although charged by the police with incest were relieved when they were not prosecuted, so decided to live together in a flat Nat and Georgiaabove the Pizza Parlour. Georgia’s happiness was short lived when a short while later she discovered she was pregnant with Nat’s baby, feeling she had no choice Georgia decided to have an abortion. The relationship between Nat and Georgia came under more strain as more people discovered their secret so they decided to split up, but as each start dating other people it soon became clear they couldn't stand living apart.

Simpsons in therapyTo try to overcome his feelings for Georgia Nat agreed to start therapy sessions, but later when the whole family were invited to attend Georgia revealed that she had been -pregnant with Nat’s baby. Ollie outraged by this revelation brought the therapy session to a close by throwing a chair through the window.

Nat and Georgia leavingJ.C. Bradley continued his vendetta against Nat and Georgia, preventing them from finding somewhere to live in the area, so they were forced to move away from Brookside Close which upset both Bel and Danny although Ollie was relieved to see them go.

After the departure of Nat and Georgia, Ollie and Bel’s relationship Ellenor and Olliedeteriorated, with Ollie striking up a friendship with solicitor Elanor Kitson while Bel got drunk and ended up sleeping with Mike Dixon only to catch gonorrhoea. When she passed this onto Ollie they had an argument which ended with Bel leaving Brookside close for good. Danny who was at first undecided about which parent to live with, eventually decides to stay with Ollie.

Ollie continued his relationship with Elanor but there were complications with the arrival of her daughter Louise and ex- lover Mad Marcos
