Jimmy Corkhills Family Continued.........

True to form Jimmy was busy elsewhere retrieving a gun for Lindsey so arrived home to a hostile reception from Jackie who he’d made late for her appointment. To make matters worse, when Jackie finally arrived for her interview she still had curlers in her hair.

Jimmy insisted on helping Lindsey to steal Callum's money, so rather than use a hire car which could be traced, Jimmy stole one, which they used to Lindsey steals Callum's moneyfollow Callum on his collection round. When Callum stopped at a petrol station Lindsey saw an opportunity while he was away from the car, ran across to steal his money, only to discover Callum had left the keys in the ignition. Lindsey took great pleasure in stealing Callum's car, leaving him cursing his luck at the filling station.

Lindsey then used the money to buy Barry Grant’s share of the Millennium Club, which made her the major shareholder, something Jacqui was non to pleased about.

Although Callum didn’t actually see who drove away in his car, he soon realised that Lindsey was responsible and wasted no time in seeking revenge. He kept watch on Lindsey until he could confront her on her own, so when Lindsey left Bar Brookie alone one night he grabbed her. As Callum tried to get his revenge by raping Lindsey he was interrupted by Jacqui Dixon who had heard them arguing.

Callum left vowing to return, but the next time he saw Lindsey at Jacqui’s flat she took control by using her gun to threaten him. Jacqui decided to call Rose Finnegan who arrived with Alisdair and soon defused the situation by promising to keep Callum away from Lindsey.

With Callum out the way Lindsey thought she had got away with stealing the money but a few days later Rose told her she knew all about her stealing from Callum and gave her until Christmas to pay the money back. Another shock was in store for Lindsey when she realised she would have to let Jacqui Dixon own half the club as she was the only one lightly to get a drinks license.

Jimmy’s luck had a change for the better when he was reinstated at the school by the new headmaster after Mr Thorton had decided not to return to his job. Jimmy was delighted with his change of fortune and soon became involved in another school project, creating a tapestry for the Millennium.

Jackie meanwhile had other things on her mind, having decided that both she and Jimmy needed a holiday. After asking Jimmy to arrange a passport for William, Jackie ended up applying for the passport herself when Jimmy once again let her down. To try and smooth things over between Jackie and Jimmy, Lindsey arranged for them all to go out for a meal at Susannah’s new restaurant “ The Shelf “, but the evening was spoilt when Jackie and Jimmy argued and Lindsey had drink spilt on her dress. This latest argument made Lindsey decide to move out of No 10 and into her own house next door.

Jimmy at the airportJackie was really looking forward to her holiday with Jimmy and Lindsey, but after arriving at the airport Jimmy had one drink too many to calm his nerves. The crew refused to allow him to board the aircraft, so Jackie and Lindsey left on holiday without him.

On their return from holiday Lindsey became more involved with the Millennium Club while Jackie found Jimmy hadn't changed his ways while she was on holiday. Although Jimmy tried his best to please Jackie after several more arguments Jackie decide to move next door with Lindsey to make Jimmy realise he should not take her for granted.

They were not apart for long though, for while Jacqui and Jimmy were discussing their future together, young William wondered off unnoticed.By the time Jimmy and Jackie realised William was missing it was too late, Jimmy discovered William lying face down in the pond. William was rushed to hospital where he remained seriously ill for some time before he was to recover from his ordeal. By the time William was discharged from hospital Jimmy and Jackie had decided to give their marriage another chance so Jackie moved back to number 10.

Meanwhile Lindsey was having more trouble with Callum, when he turned up uninvited at the opening of the Millennium Club, although he only stayed a short while.

Shortly after Callum left a bomb exploded at the club, causing extensive damage, killing two people and injuring several others. After the explosion Callum paid Lindsey a visit intending to frighten her into leaving the area.

Lindsey gets a beatingLindsey chose to ignore his threats and as a result ended up in hospital after a brutal beating. While recovering from her injuries Lindsey made friends with Shelley who she had previously met at the club. Jimmy was concerned about their friendship when he discovered that Shelly was a lesbian.

Jimmy and KarenJimmy found himself unemployed once more after Jackie in a jealous rage had revealed to Karen that Jimmy had forged all his qualifications. Meanwhile Jackie had discovered a new interest helping out at the local hospital. After losing his job at the school Jimmy was still keen to create something to signify the start of a new Millennium now that he could no longer work on the tapestry.

Jimmy constructed a make shift shed out of old doors so he could work on his project in secret, he wouldn't even tell Jackie what it would be, making her wait until Millennium eve when it would be unveiled.

Jackie had a change in fortune when she was offered the job as manager at the petrol station, this was totally unexpected and she was delighted to accept the job.

Meanwhile Lindsey having recovered from her beating received a visit from Rose Finnegan, who demanded that she should repay the money owed in full by Christmas. As Lindsey had no hope of repaying the money by then, she was forced to agree to let the Finnegan's sell drugs from the New Millennium Club.

At first Lindsey managed to keep the drugs operation a secret from Jacqui and Susannah, but on New Years Eve one of her neighbours children Gemma Johnson took a drugs overdose at the club. The police were called and Lindsey had no choice but to close the club.

Jimmy finally unveiled his project, The Millennium Arch at the stroke of midnight on Millennium Eve. His arch was placed in front of his house and was about ten feet high.

Jimmys ArchIt was constructed of wood and covered in items and photos from the Twentieth Century. Jimmy was very proud of his arch and intended it to stay in place for some time, but Lindsey was not so impressed as it put off prospective buyers of No 9, which she now had to sell to pay back Rose Finnegan. Jimmy was shocked when a man from the council called round and told him his arch would have to come down. Devastated by this news Jimmy began to suspect each and every one of his neighbours of trying to get his arch taken down, but he was even more shaken when Lindsey confessed that she had reported him.

After the council demolished his arch, Jimmy was determined that his opinion of local government should be expressed in a way that everyone would take notice. With this in mind he wrote out slogans on boards then proceeded to cover his house with them. Although the press came round to look at his boards and he even appeared on Television, Jackie was adamant that the boards should come down. When Jimmy refused Jackie enlisted the help of Ray and Lindsey to remove them.

Jimmy at Bigger BurgersAfter this Jackie insisted Jimmy find a proper job, so he eventually was forced to take a job at Bigger Burgers. On his first day at work Jimmy discovered his new boss was a former pupil of his at Brookside Comprehensive School. Jimmy didn't like working at his new job and decided to better himself by becoming a local councillor, but when he asked for time off so he could hand in his nomination, his new boss refused. This was the last straw for Jimmy so to get revenge he gave away dozens of beefburgers and was promptly sacked.

Jackie was kept in the dark about Jimmy's sacking as he knew what her reaction would be. When she eventually found out they had a blazing row and although she eventually accepted the situation, Jackie was further exasperated when Jimmy gave Lindsey most of their savings so she could go to Benidorm.

Jimmy felt Jackie would be better off without him, so decided to leave the close and live rough in a bus shelter on Brookside Parade. Jackie was horrified when she discovered where Jimmy was living and tried to persuade him to return home, but he wouldn't listen. Eventually Ray managed to talk Jimmy into going home but by this time it was obvious Jimmy was ill.

Jackie persuaded Jimmy to accept the doctors help who prescribed him some tablets to treat his depression. Within a few days Jimmy appeared to back to his old self and even got a Job at Bev's Bar.

Lindsey and CallumMeanwhile Lindsey having returned from holiday soon had problems of her own when she heard Callum was back after Rose and Alisdair had been killed. Using Dave as his accomplice Callum kidnapped Lindsey, took her to a disused building where he surprised her with a proposal of marriage. Lindsey wasn't interested though so Callum asked Dave to kill her, but he allowed Lindsey to escape instead. In the resulting argument Dave shot Callum Dead.

Lindsey and ShelleyBefore the kidnap Lindsey had been about to renew her friendship with Shelley, but when Lindsey failed to turn up for a weekend away Shelley refused to believe Lindsey's story about being kidnaped by Callum.
