Continued...........
Ron was horrified when Megan told Anthea what had gone on between him and Bev Bev and devastated when Anthea walked out having said she wouldn’t marry him. Ron believed he had lost Anthea for good, but after taking time to think things over Anthea agreed to give Ron another chance but this time on her terms. Meanwhile Jacqui continued to worry about the Millennium Club as it’s official opening was delayed yet again by building problems and sabotage. Both Lindsey Corkhill and Susannah Morrisey sought assurances from her that there would be no more delays as Lindsey became impatient and Susannah faced bankruptcy.
Ron was puzzled when he lost one of his best cleaning contracts about the same time that Bev decided to leave, having told him she had found herself a new job. Anthea later discovered that Bev was now working as a live in housekeeper for Ron’s former client.
This was followed shortly by another shock when a large electricity bill arrived. Apparently the persons growing the Cannabis had been heating the loft by using Ron’s power supply.
Anthea gave Ron cause for concern when after
visiting a well woman clinic she told him the doctor had discovered some
pre-cancerous cells. Ron jumped Rachel had a surprise in store for Mike when she told him she was expecting his baby, something that took him completely by surprise. Meanwhile Jacqui became involved in a relationship with Nathan which started soon after she had consulted him about the Millennium Club. They soon realised they were attracted to each other and were both keen to develop their friendship further. When Nathan suggested they go on holiday together Jacqui was very pleased to accept.
Ron blamed his illness on food he had bought from " Chips With Everything " but the health inspector ( Mr Moore ) found the real culprit was a nearby hot dog stand. Meanwhile Jacqui had problems of her own when the Millennium Club was rocked by an explosion on it's opening night. Jacqui escaped without injury but others were not so lucky.
Deborah was to cause Jacqui more worry when she decided to move in with Nathan and Darren who had just moved into No 9 Brookside Close. After initially trying to come between Nathan and Jacqui, Deborah eventually gave up after Nathan made it clear he wasn't interested in starting a relationship. Meanwhile Mike and Rachel had some good news, when Rachel revealed she was pregnant. At first Rachel was concerned whether Mike would be a good father but Mike managed to reassure her that he loved the idea of being a parent. Ron was in for more good news when Jacqui announced she was getting married to Nathan, followed by Mike who said Rachel had accepted his proposal of marriage.
Mike and Rachel had just moved into No 8 after Sinbad had agreed to let them rent it along with Katie. Sinbad and Ron did not get along so when Ron turned up asking to stay Mike reluctantly agreed providing Ron stayed out of sight when Sinbad visited. This arrangement didn't last long though, Bev who had recently returned as the new owner of Bar Brookie told Sinbad where Ron was staying. Sinbad rushed round to his house and discovered Ron in the middle of a dinner party with the Cuddingtons. Ron was totally humiliated when Sinbad told him to leave. Ron was determined to get revenge on Sinbad, so when he decided to sell the house at auction Ron planned to buy it at a knock down price. Things didn't quite go the way Ron had hoped and he ended up paying a lot more for the house due to Bev bidding against him. Meanwhile Jacqui was having doubts about marrying Nathan, particularly after her weeks hen party in Benidorm where she met Robbie the brother of Katie's new boyfriend. Robbie made her realise what she would be giving up by marrying Nathan. On the day of the wedding Jacqui was still having doubts but despite this decided to go ahead with the ceremony. Nathan having realised Jacqui was unhappy called a halt to the wedding and after a long talk they decided not to get married after all.
Ron tried to make it up to Anthea by letting her stay in his house, and while there they began to rekindle their relationship. There was more trouble ahead though when Anthea heard that the damage Ron caused to her house was not covered by insurance. This was too much for Anthea to accept so she decided to leave Ron, but just as she was leaving Ron surprised her by singing a song dedicated to her which made her realise he really did love her. Although they were now back together Ron never really changed his ways, and his attitude towards other peoples misfortune continually annoyed Anthea. When Sinbad was accused of child abuse Ron was delighted and despite warnings from Anthea he took great pleasure in spreading the news to anyone willing to listen. Sinbad was eventually proved innocent of all the allegations and it was only because of Anthea's insistence that Ron apologized to him.
Rachel decided to take the job anyway and for a while everything seemed to be working out for everyone in the Dixon house. However it was not long before Anthea realised she was just being taken for granted, so with encouragement from Rachel she asked Ron for a few improvements to be made. Rons idea of just giving the place a fresh coat of paint wasn't quite what Anthea had in mind, but eventually Ron agreed to completely refurbish the house.
Later to make amends for the video Ron invited
Ray and Jessie to their newly refurbished house for a meal. The evening
turned into a Mike was unaware of the robbery until Steve visited him in hospital and inadvertently let slip what had happened. Mike was furious that he hadn't been told by Rachel and even though he was still confined to a wheelchair he discharged himself from hospital. Mike returned home with the intention of looking after Rachel but soon discovered that due to his incapacity, he was more of a burden than a help.
