Jimmy Corkhills Family

Jimmy was always willing to help Billy out when needed but things didn't always go according to plan. Billy once had a contract to do some electrical work in a wool shop, but when the owner was reluctant to pay for the work Jimmy removed the shop doors. Instead of paying the bill, Trevor ( the shop owner ) got his sons to remove the doors from Billy’s car. Jimmy retaliated by spraying the wool shop’s stock of wool with a fire extinguisher.

The dispute escalates for a while before Jimmy accepts a few dozen jumpers as down payment, Billy is non to pleased as he would have preferred cash.

Jimmy first lived on the close for a while at No 10 with his girlfriend Kathy after being kicked out of his own home by wife Jackie. Jimmy converted Billy’s garage into a flat for Kathy and himself. Later he moved into No 7 with Sinbad who was supposed to be looking after the house for the owners.

Jimmy tried to help his wife Jackie by persuading Ron Dixon to employ her in his new shop on Brookside Parade. Ron’s business did really well, which did Kowboy Kutznot go unnoticed by Jimmy, so when the owner of Brookside Parade ( Barry Grant ) is away abroad he took over an empty unit next to Ron Dixon’s shop. Jimmy called his new business venture Kowboy Kutz selling similar goods to those sold at the Dixon's shop only at much lower prices. His business was soon thriving, but when Barry finds out that Jimmy was using one of his units rent free he took drastic action. One night he broke into Kowboy Kutz and set fire to the shop completely destroying Jimmy's stock.

Jimmy was later employed by Barry Grant at La Luz his new night-club on Brookside Parade it was while working at La Luz that Jimmy first got involved with drugs. Brian Kennedy owner of the hair stylist and frequent visitor at La Luz persuaded Jimmy that good money could be made by supplying drugs. At first Jimmy acted as a go between supplying Taxi drivers with drugs who then sold it on to their customers.

Jimmy saved the money he made, hoping one day to buy a house for Jackie and himself, so when Brian suggested he could make even more money by investing his savings in a big drug deal Jimmy jumped at the chance, handing over three thousand pounds to Brian. A few days later Brian told him the deal had gone through and handed Jimmy a large jiffy bag. Jimmy opened the bag expecting to see a large amount of cash, but instead it contained three thousand pounds worth of cocaine. Taking completely by surprise Jimmy asked Brian to sell it for him but Brian insisted that Jimmy sold it to dealers himself.

A short while later Brian was arrested leaving Jimmy the task of selling his stash of coke. Jimmy decided to try the coke for himself and before he realised it he became addicted to cocaine. It was not long before Jackie found out about his drug habit and although she tried desperately to stop him, by this time Jimmy had become totally dependent on drugs.

Jimmy taking drugsOne day while high on drugs and driving his car he caused another car to crash killing one of its occupants, Frank Rodgers on his way back from his wedding, and injuring Ron Dixon's son Tony.

Tony was in a comma for several weeks but showed no signs of recovery and eventually died of his injuries. While Tony was in hospital Jimmy tried to make it up to Ron by giving him his full support raising money for Tony, but at his funeral Jimmy could hide his guilt no longer and confessed to Ron that he was the driver of the other car in the accident. Ron was devastated and swore he would never forgive Jimmy for causing Tony’s death.

JimmyTo pay for his supply of coke Jimmy turned to crime robbing from neighbours on Brookside Close until one day he was caught by Eddie Banks breaking into his house. Eddie called the police , Jimmy was arrested and sent to prison for nine months. while in prison Jimmy was weaned of drugs. While there he discovered that more money could be made by being a drug dealer.

When he came out of prison he started up a taxi Business as a cover for selling drugs. He set up office in an old caravan on Brookside Parade much to Korky Kabsthe annoyance of Ron Dixon and other traders. He managed to convince Jackie that he was going straight and she agreed to move back to No 10 with him . Later when Jimmy's daughter Lindsey and her husband Garry moved into No 10 with them, Jimmy gave them both jobs at his Taxi Business.

At first they were unaware of Jimmy's involvement in drug dealing, until one night when they are short of drivers Lindsey sent Garry out to deliver a package for Jimmy not realising it contained drugs. Gary soon discovered what Jimmy was up to and persuaded him to let him in on the drug deals.

It was not long before Jackie realised that their house was paid for using drug money. and although she continued living at No 10 Jackie tried to stop Lindsey finding out. Despite her efforts the secret was disclosed when one night the house was sprayed with bullets by a rival drug dealer who resented Jimmy operating on his patch. Fearing their lives were in danger Jackie, Lindsey and Kyle moved out to stay with Jackie’s sister.

Jimmy believed he had lost Jackie and vowed never to be involved with drugs again. Meanwhile tired of Gary's drug dealing Lindsey started seeing Mike Dixon and soon became involved in a serious relationship. They decide they Bangkokwant to live together as a family so to get away from Garry they tried to emigrate from Australia. When Garry heard of their plans he decided to spoil their happiness by planting drugs in one of Kylie's toys. On their way to Australia the plane stopped off at Bangkok where the drugs were discovered, Mike and Lindsey arrested and thrown in Jail.

For a while Jimmy and Ron united in a bid to free Lindsey and Mike but when the Thai authorities decide to realise only one prisoner, Lindsey, Ron was gutted. Jimmy decided to hunt down Gary and get him to tell the Police that he planted the drugs in Kylie’s toy and that Mike had no knowledge of this. When he was eventually tracked down Gary told Lindsey he would only confess providing she goes back to him once Mike is released. A few days later Mike was released from jail but was horrified to discover Lindsey had gone back to Gary.

Later Jackie found out about Gary’s ultimatum and informed local drug dealers that Gary was still in the area knowing they will force him to leave. For a while Mike and Lindsey re-kindle their relationship, but when mike decided to write a book about their experiences in Bangkok, Lindsey does want to be involved and leaves him.

Little JimmyJackie and Jimmy hoped their lives would be free of any involvement in drugs, but one day Jimmy heard that their son Little Jimmy was in trouble in France. Jimmy went to France and returned with his son but soon found out that Little Jimmy was a drug addict who owed a large sum of money to drug dealers. Jackie persuaded Jimmy that they should try to get their son off drugs but just as they think they have succeeded, Little Jimmy is hunted down by the drug dealers and killed.

While all this was going on Jackie had a brief affair with Ron Dixon but following her son’s death she returned to Jimmy. A short while later Jackie discovered she was pregnant and announced to a delighted Jimmy he was to become a father again.

With a new baby on the way Jimmy decided he must find a good Job, so with the help of some forged qualifications provided by Danny Simpson he enrolled on a teacher training course. After months of hard work Jimmy passed his exam and after several interviews secures a teaching Job at Brookside Comprehensive

Lindsey and PeterMeanwhile Lindsey had become involved with Peter Phelan and become engaged, but there relationship was not without problems. First Lindsey had a brief affair with Barry Grant which Peter found hard to forgive, then just when they get back together again Gary Stanlow arrived back on the scene. Gary demanded £10,000 from Lindsey otherwise he would apply for custody of their daughter Kylie. Over the following weeks Garry Lindsey and Rose Finneganbecame increasingly threatening in his demands until eventually Lindsey frightens him off with the help of a gun given to her by Mrs Finnegan, a local gangsters wife
