Character Profile Jacqui Dixon..Last Updated March 24th 2002
Jacqui was a keen swimmer and spent most of her spare time in training at the local pool in an effort to join the school swimming team, although she still found time to get involved with a couple of unsavoury characters. The first was Sinnott who approached her at school, trying to persuade her to take drugs, but when that didn’t succeed he spiked her drink at a party, leaving Jacqui frightened and disorientated. When Mike discovered what had happened he attacked Sinnott at school which resulted in Mike being suspended. Mike later had his drink spiked with drugs so to get revenge he and Jacqui plotted to get Sinnott caught by the police while selling drugs, but only succeeded in getting themselves arrested instead for possession. Luckily for them they were let off by the police with a warning. In 1992 Jacqui became involved with a gang led
by local trouble maker Darren Murphy which almost ended with her being
killed when one of There was more trauma in Jacqui’s life the following year when her younger brother Tony was seriously injured in a car accident while returning from a neighbours wedding. After several weeks in a comma Tony died from his injuries. In 1994 Jacqui had a relationship with Carl Banks who had moved to the close with his parents Eddie and Rosie. Carl had told Jacqui his marriage was over and although Jacqui believed him, she was unimpressed to discover he was also seeing other woman while dating her. Jacqui ended their relationship by pouring a bucket of water over Carls head. After Ron spilt up with DD and moved his new girlfriend Bev into No 8, Jacqui moved out, first to No six Brookside close then later to a flat above Brookside Parade. Jacqui’s first attempt at making easy money was by setting up a car boot stall and getting her friend Katie to help run it, while at the same time organising two local lads Leo and Lee to wash cars and taking 25% commission off them. When a unit became available on Brookside Parade
Jacqui saw it as an opportunity to open a hair salon, her only problem
was finding the money to Reluctantly Shaun handed over the money but at the same time sacked her brother Mike who worked for him. Mike was more than a little annoyed with Jacqui so told Katie that Jacqui had slept with Shaun which almost ended the friendship between Katie and Jacqui.
Jacqui’s next love interest was Shane Cochrane an Australian actor who was appearing at a local panto. Their friendship was short lived however, Shane was a drug user and one night he overdosed on drugs supplied by Gary Stanlow, Jimmy’s son in law. Jacqui sought revenge by painting in large letters “ Murderer Jimmy Corkhill - Drug Dealer “ across the windows of No 10.
There was more trouble ahead for Jacqui when
she was approached by local Even after agreeing to the surrogacy Jacqui was still unable to pay Barry in time and ended up being forced to let him take over ownership of the club, while she reverted to being manager. In 1998 Jacqui invested in a new business venture
with Barry Grant. With the The building of her new club was delayed several times by sabotage from business rivals, Callums who wanted the club for themselves. Barry decided to pull out of the new club when he heard about the Callums interest, but Lindsey stepped in and bought his share much to Jacqui’s annoyance. Although Lindsey had persuaded the Callums to leave the Millennium alone, she also agreed to let Jacqui own half the club, as she was more likely to obtain a drinks license. When Jacqui first met Katie's new boss, solicitor Nathan Cuddington she was unimpressed with his manner, but later after a few drinks at Bar Brookie she realised he wasn't so bad after all and soon they were in a serious relationship. Jacqui believed her involvement in the Millennium Club was sure to be a sound investment, but her confidence was shattered when a bomb blast wrecked the club on it's opening night. After that she decided to sell her share of the club, go for a quieter life and buy an off license on the parade instead.
At the party where Jacqui met Nathan's parents she also met an old girlfriend of his,Deborah, who mistook her for a waitress. Although Deborah still seemed very keen on Nathan, Jacqui believed she had little to worry about until Deborah decided to join Nathan and Darren when they moved into No 9 Brookside Close.
When Jacqui first told Ron that she was engaged to Nathan he was far from pleased until he discovered his parents were Lord and Lady Cuddington. In fact he was so delighted with Jacqui's engagement that he almost completely ignored Mike's engagement to Rachel. Nathan wanted Jacqui to move with him to London once they were married and although Jacqui agreed, this led to arguments between her and Katie who feared she would be losing her best friend. More problems arose when Nathan arranged for their wedding to take place at Cuddington Hall on the same day that Mike and Rachel were getting married. This caused more friction between Jacqui and Katie until Rachel suggested they could all get married at Cuddington Hall.
Jacqui wanted to make a completely fresh start when she married Nathan so she decided to end her involvement in Bar Brookie. When a mystery buyer was found Jacqui had no idea who it could be, so was horrified to discover the new owner was in fact Bev Mcloughlin, who had inherited a fortune from a former employer. As the wedding day approached Jacqui began to have doubts about Marrying Nathan as it would mean moving to London and leaving all her friends and family behind. Jacqui was also worried about baby Harry's welfare as Max and Susannah continued to fight over the children.
Once back in Liverpool though Jacqui convinced herself she should still marry Nathan, but after talking to Katie just before the ceremony she once more had doubts about the wedding, moving to London and leaving all her friends and family behind. Jacqui decided to talk to Nathan about her doubts, and after he offered to stay in Liverpool she agreed to go ahead with the wedding. However during the ceremony Nathan realised that Jacqui was still having doubts and called a halt to the marriage. Jacqui was devastated, but after a long talk with Nathan they both came to the conclusion that they shouldn't get married after all as their differences were just to great. After her break-up with Nathan Jacqui began to feel isolated, Katie was in a steady relationship with Clint and Mike seemed to have turned against her believing she had turned into a snob. At one point Jacqui regretted not marrying Nathan thinking she should have moved to London after all. About this time Max moved in to one of the flats so he could be near his children. Susannah resented Max living nearby and did not want him to have access to Emma and Harry which created an unsettling environment for the children. Jacqui became concerned about the children's welfare as a court case for custody loomed, and so asked Max to try to resolve the situation with Susannah. Eventually an agreement was reached and for a while Jacqui, Susannah and Max were all friends again.
Meanwhile Robbie had returned to live in Liverpool with his brother Clint, giving Jacqui the chance to resume the relationship she had started with Robbie in Benidorm. Jacqui was very happy to see Robbie again and she soon realised she had strong feelings for him. Robbie felt the same way about Jacqui, but he soon became jealous of her involvement with baby Harry. On the eve of Susannah's wedding Jacqui called on her and offered to buy Harry back for £30, 000 but Susannah refused. A heated argument followed during which Darren Roebuck arrived. Jacqui realised that Darren was having an affair with Susannah although he denied it. Jacqui was so angry that she attacked Susannah, scratching her face before being pulled of by Darren and bundled out the door.
Susannah though was nowhere to be seen, but everyone assumed she had used the honeymoon tickets to go away for awhile. A few days later news of a tragedy spread round the close, Susannah had been found dead in the kitchen after having apparently fallen down the stairs. Over the next few weeks Jacqui spent more time with Max, first helping him to get over Susannah's death and then later helping him cope after her funeral. Meanwhile her relationship with Robbie seemed to be going well, but Jacqui decided not to tell him about her frequent visits to see Max and Harry.
Nisha had previously been engaged to Clint, but he ran off to Spain with Robbie after he had seriously injured someone in a fight, effectively putting an end to their engagement. Jacqui decided she had no choice but to finish with Robbie, but when she told him of her decision he became violent and hit her across the face. Ron was furious when he heard what had happened to Jacqui, so when he saw Robbie arguing with her by the pool, Ron told him to stay away and in the scuffle he pushed Robbie into the water. After getting out of the pool Robbie vowed to get Revenge on Ron, but this revenge would result in tragic consequences. Ron had voiced his fears about being robbed again to Tim, but was taken completely by surprise when Tim later called round to give him a gun for protection. Ron asked Tim to take the gun back, but was told this could take some time to arrange, so in the meantime Ron kept the gun hidden upstairs.
Ron was later arrested by the police and charged with murder, while Jacqui tried to salvage her friendship with Katie, who had been about to move away to Spain with Clint. Katie found it very difficult coming to terms with Clint's death, and the situation wasn't helped by the fact that Jacqui obviously believed Ron was justified in shooting him. Jacqui tried to comfort Katie by talking about the good times they had together. Later after going to Ron's house to see where Clint died Katie decided that she could no longer be friends with her. Rachel provided a sympathetic ear when Jacqui who was feeling depressed about her disastrous relationships with both Nathan and Robbie needed someone to talk to. In an effort to cheer Jacqui up Rachel suggested that if only Max had been 20 years younger things could have been different between them. Jacqui though didn't seem too worried about their age difference and believed that perhaps she and Max could be happy together.
Despite Max trying tried to cool her passion by telling her he would never fall in love again, Jacqui was still keen to pursue her relationship with him. One night he asked Jacqui to baby-sit for him while he went out with someone else. Jacqui wasn't too happy about this but agreed, even though she felt quite jealous. Her depression lifted when he returned home and confessed it was Jacqui he really wanted to be with, but Max was left a little confused when after sharing a passionate kiss she left abruptly. The next day he asked Jacqui out, the date went well and they ended up in bed together. Unfortunately the mood was spoilt when Max was haunted by memories of Susannah. As Max contemplated telling Lisa how he and Jacqui felt about each other, she was also keen for Max to have some romance in his life, but not with Jacqui. Before he had a chance to tell Lisa about his relationship with Jacqui, she arranged for him to go on holiday with a friend of hers. However despite Lisa's best efforts Max wasn't interested in having a relationship with anyone else.
Mick continued to brood over the relationship
between Max and Jacqui, and the possible connection with Susannah's death.
Having heard from Katie about Jacqui's obsession with Harry, Mick concluded
that she must have killed Susannah. Max was horrified when Mick confronted
Jacqui with this allegation and soon jumped to her defence, by insisting
she had nothing to do with her death. Later Max had another surprise in store for
Jacqui, when he decided to make their relationship more permanent by asking
her to marry him. Although Jacqui was delighted when Max asked her to
move in with him, she was not so sure about accepting his proposal, and
wanted time to think about it.
Max reassured Jacqui that everything would be fine despite what Ron and Katie thought. There was more upset when Lisa arrived and asked Max to attend a school open day, this day clashed with the wedding so Max had no choice but to tell Lisa that he and Jacqui were getting married. Lisa was horrified and said she would fight for custody of Harry and Emma. The days leading up to their wedding proved to be very traumatic for Jacqui and Max. Finding out about the wedding was a shock for Lisa later when she visited tempers soon became frayed. Mick had already accused Jacqui of being involved in Susannah's demise and now Lisa also implied that she pushed Susannah to her death. Robbie meanwhile had been watching the house
and when Lisa left he called round. At first he seemed quite pleased for
the couple, but then threatened Jacqui by saying she would regret ever
meeting him. While the adults had been arguing , Harry and Emma were left
playing in the garden, but when Max checked on them he found Emma playing
alone. Suspecting that Robbie was most likely behind the abduction they started their search at the Moffat house where Lindsey threatened Shirley with violence to try and make her reveal Robbie's whereabouts. The trail eventually lead them to a block of flats where they rescued Harry from a window ledge high above the ground. Jacqui was relieved when Harry was returned safe and made her peace with Lindsey, while Ron had a change of heart about the marriage after seeing how close Jacqui and Max had become. The ordeal wasn't over for Jacqui though, for Robbie later threw a brick through the window, then Max feeling guilty about his part in Susannah's death called off the wedding.
Max and Jacqui returned from Honeymoon, with
the new Mrs Farnham eager to put her plans for the family into action.
Jacqui wants to devote more time to Harry and Emma and so had decided
to give up work and become a full time mum. Determined to make her mark
on the Farnham household, Jacqui discussed arrangements to have the house
redecorated and soon had her own furniture delivered, to replace Susannah's.
Max decided to surprise Jacqui by buying them each a new car. Jacqui was delighted, but her happiness was short lived when Katie incensed at seeing Jacqui enjoying life, spoiled the moment by throwing a tin of paint over her new motor. This didn't satisfy Katie's thirst for revenge, for when Sammy arrived to look after her they plotted to destroy Jacqui's marriage. Sammy had a cunning plan to wreck Jacqui's marriage
to Max by tempting him to be unfaithful. Katie called on Jacqui and invited
her out on the pretense that she wanted to put the past events behind
them and be friends again. Jacqui was so relieved that she didn't suspect
an ulterior motive and agreed to meet Katie at Bev's Bar for a drink.
Katie realised she had gone too far by trying to wreck Jacqui's marriage, and the next day called on her to try and patch up their friendship. After listening to what Katie had to say Jacqui accepted her apology and they decided to give their friendship another try. Later Jacqui had a heart to heart with Rachel and admitted she was finding looking after the children a lot more demanding than she thought, but was determined to keep this from Max. However Jacqui found she just couldn't settle down to staying at home and decided to return to work, while employing Rachel to look after Harry and Emma. Jacqui soon discovered she wasn't really needed at her health club, as Sol her manager was running the place. When Jacqui heard that Bev was being forced to sell Bev's Bar after Leanne had wrecked her chances of reopening it, she decided to buy the bar back off her. Before Jacqui had a chance to celebrate her new business venture, a visit to the doctor revealed she was pregnant.
